After one week of getting around with the Thai culture and acclimatize to the new climate conditions we are ready to leave Bangkok and cycle north direction to Lao and China.
All the long winter clothes go in the base of our bags, as we won’t need them the next time.
Getting out of the capital we have to cycle some bigger highways, but more or less they are ok. Just the wind is against us, blowing on our heads. At this time we don’t know, that we will have headwind every day in Thailand. But the terrain is flat, so it’s reasonable.
Our bicycles are fully packed again and we leave the nice old guesthouse from Supawan School.
The first day we don’t get far away from Bangkok, but we find a hotel with view over the river and good food from the market at night.
Children beaded like soldiers.
We cycle a lot of very nice small roads with lots of temples, huge Buddhas and little traffic.
Along the roads there are so many wooden shelters, we use them for small breaks in the shade.
In Ayutthaya we walk west to see the old town. The sun is going down and it’s dark soon. So we will come back tomorrow. We meet to other cyclists.
Ayutthaya at day time. Very impressive old buildings.
When we go on after lunch, we pass a elephant camp, but they are all pathetic, chained and sway from one side to the other, which shows their psychological problems.
Just a while later we see our first free wildlife baboon.
A very long, about 30-40 meters long, reclining Buddha.
